 Great antivirus and not very intrusive September 5, 2010

I don't usually do written reviews but since its an antivirus well here goes.

br /I got this for my pcs at home, I don't usually like to install antiviruses on PC's since I don't surf the web that much and the few sites I visit often are secure and virus free, also I'm a gamer and I need most of my PC's resources free so that when I game my machine doesn't bog down.

br /I installed it and everything worked fine, I liked how the antivirus has 3 modes, depending on how much you like to customize your antivirus, I feel in love with the Game mode that the antivirus has, not only does it run silent but it wont affect your gaming (at least not in my case) it's like you dont have an antivirus installed at all thats how good the game mode was and I loved it. I used it for a few months and everything went smooth, no viruses, the antivirus self updated (you can change how often you want it to check for updates) until I got a new netbook, I didnt install the software due to lazyness and thanks to that I got my first virus in months (so much for my safe web surfing habbits).

br /The package comes with a DVD and code, in case you want to install it on a netbook you can download the software and just use your code, with the package you get a license to install it on 3 machines (which pretty much covered all my pcs in the house).

br /I must say I was pretty impressed with the antivirus and will continue to support it.

I ran this program for a while but it seemed to slow my computer down. Did what it promised but it was a hard drive eater.

The product does what it's supposed to do: 1) Good A/V scanner, 2) Protection against malware/spyware, and 3) almost complete user control. There are a few negatives though: 1) At boot up, it's really slow to load on a 64-bit Windows machine and sometimes the Windows A/V monitor actually says I don't have any A/V program?!?! Even though I have set it at Auto, the updates are not pulled in automatically. Sometimes I have choose manual updates. Complete user control can either be a plus or minus. If you set the scanner to notify you before any program installs itself, well you better have the strength to click through so many OKs. We all know it's not just one file being installed but rather multiple ones....quite a painful process.

br /It's a decent product but requires more refining. There are others that you should evaluate.
 Renewal system from Hell August 9, 2010

I have had bitdefender antivirus for 2 years and have been through two renewals. Each involved 2 weeks of torture - emails back and forth to support, phone calls, ID keys that didn't work, multiple charges to my credit card and just plain frustration. I don't understand how any company can make such a simple process so painful. With bitdefender you won't worry about virus's; your mind will be swampled with worry that the renewal process is eminent.

so, I had BitDefender 2008 anti-virus 3pc/3yr -- can't complain.
br /then! since it expired I've purchased th 2010 anti-virus 3pc/1yr.
br /but! one PC now can't boot and on the other PC the BitDefender
br /didn't register with Windows Security and it asks for the product
br /key each time we boot, and still shows "Trail" in its banner.
br /and! it can't download updates w/o any meaningful status, just
br /punt... it seems that this vendor is so bent on expired license
br /from 2008 version that it left a trail of inconsistent setup
br /and drivers, or whatever. likewise with my son's laptop.
br /so! I told him to remove it clean and download a trial from
br /AVG or Trend or any other but this one. it's Windows XP and
br /Vista PC (s) that are now on the floor, after an install
br /session of this product! please, don't try this on your PC!
